SIP pulled off a string of successes in driving cultural and sports development over the past year.

SIP Culture, Sports and Tourism Office was declared one of the “Advanced Organizations in Mass Sports in China (2021-2024)” by the General Administration of Sport of China.

A number of performances, including a concert by Suzhou Symphony Orchestra and a ballet by Suzhou Ballet Theatre, won honors and prizes.

The Lake Cup Regatta, an annual event held on Jinji Lake, was commended by the Chinese Yachting Association for its outstanding contributions to the development of the sport of yachting in China, and the Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race received multiple honors.

Gulou Ercun Community in Weiting Sub-district was selected as one of the country’s “Scholarly Communities”, and SIP Northern Citizen Center was selected as one of the “Innovative Public Cultural Spaces of Jiangsu Province”.

Diverse cultural and sports events were held frequently, improving SIP’s reputation nationwide and even worldwide. Below are several highlights.

The 2024-2025 China Badminton Super League Finals was held at Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre in February, attracting over 30,000 spectators.

The 2025 EDC China, part of the Electric Daisy Carnival (EDC), a globally renowned dance music festival, took place in Yangchenghu Peninsula Tourist Resort in March, attracting about 60,000 music fans from all over the world.

The 15th Jinji Lake Dragon Boat Race was held in May, bringing together 69 teams consisting of 1,502 rowers from 13 countries and regions.

The finals of the 5th “2034 Cup” Primary School Students’ Football Games (U12) took place in July.

The preliminary assessment of the 38th China Film Golden Rooster Awards was completed in August. And the 2025 WTA 125 Suzhou Open, the 2025 ATP Challenger Tour ― Suzhou Open were held in October.

October also saw the 2025 Lake Cup Regatta, which attracted more than 260 contestants from different countries, and the opening of the 4th Suzhou Jinji Lake China-France Culture and Art Week.

The 15th SIP Reading Season, encompassing more than 3,000 activities starting from April, reached a new peak of popularity in November.

The 1st SIP Football Super League kicked off in the same month, marking a milestone in SIP’s sports culture.

The final of the 2025 CFA (Chinese Football Association) Cup was held at Suzhou Olympic Sports Centre in December.
