Bosch, a German multinational engineering and electronics company, signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with SIP on Aug 27 to expand its investment in the industrial park.
Under the MOU, the Fortune Global 500 company plans to invest approximately RMB10 billion over the next five years to develop and manufacture advanced intelligent driver assistance systems and smart cabin hardware and software products in SIP.
This move highlights Bosch’s ongoing commitment to the Chinese market, and also reflects SIP’s attractiveness as a hub for R&D and high-end manufacturing.
Since establishing its presence in SIP in 1999, Bosch has made investments in the park several times, broadening its operations from simply manufacturing to include advanced R&D and local innovation.
Bosch’s development trajectory in SIP is a testament to foreign companies’ confidence in the park, which won the United Nations Investment Promotion Award in 2023.
SIP has remained a top choice for foreign capital in recent years, recording US$42 billion in actual use of foreign investment to date. It is now home to over 5,200 foreign-invested businesses, with 189 projects backed by 108 Fortune Global 500 companies.
