In recent years, SIP has fostered five near-zero carbon emission industrial parks, including the SIP Circular Economy Industrial Park which is known nationwide as a typical case of green and low-carbon development.
SIP has enhanced efforts to pursue green development since 2023, when it was designated one of the country’s first sites to pilot carbon peaking.
SIP is making great efforts to widen the application of renewable energy, with green electricity accounting for 25% of industrial electricity consumed across it. On the other hand, it supports enterprises to transform to energy-saving operation modes, with more than 150 enterprises honored for green manufacturing and 19 zero/near-zero carbon emission factories.
Moreover, all newly constructed buildings in SIP are green buildings, and all buses for public transport in the area are new energy vehicles.
In 2024, the proportion of clean energy in SIP exceeded 90%, and both the energy consumption intensity and carbon emission intensity of the park were only one-third of the national average.
Currently, SIP regards Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) as the sustainable underlying framework and competitive advantage for pursuing high-quality development, and has instituted a series of polices and measures to promote ESG-based development.
An ESG industry innovation center, the first of its kind in the country, has been set up in SIP, gathering over 70 top organizations including GRESB and KPMG that have served more than 600 listed companies so far. Besides, an intelligent platform is used to help businesses evaluate ESG compliance and a sustainability-based loan system has been established.
