As the alarm sounded and thick smoke billowed, an urgent rescue swiftly unfolded within the Hengchuang Intelligent Manufacturing Park in SIP’s Jinji Lake CBD, where an emergency drill was underway.
The event, organized by the work safety committee of the CBD with the support from SIP Fire and Rescue Brigade, was aimed at arousing work safety awareness and improving emergency response across the park.
The emergency drill featured a simulated scenario where a fire was caused by damaged temporary wiring in a company’s lithium battery warehouse due to a typhoon and several workers were injured.
After the alarm was triggered, the company quickly launched self-rescue procedures, instructing employees to cover nose and mouth, keep body close to the ground and evacuate in an orderly manner.
The firefighters from the nearest micro fire station arrived soon with equipment to tackle the initial blaze, while the emergency support team from the Sandlake Fund Town Safety Alliance also rushed to assist. Subsequently, the fire engines and emergency ambulance arrived. The fire was soon extinguished and the injured received proper treatment.
The representatives from over 30 companies in the park observed the process, gaining a better understanding of firefighting procedures and methods of dealing with emergencies.
