SIP carried out this year’s “One-day Donation” campaign on Sept 5, the Charity Day of China. Shen Mi, secretary of CPC SIP Working Committee, and other local officials participated in the launch ceremony and donated money.
The “One-day Donation” campaign is carried out in SIP on a yearly basis to raise money for various charitable purposes. It often takes place in tandem with Chinese tech giant Tencent’s annual philanthropic campaign “99 Giving Day” so that donators can make donations online. Under last year’s campaign, the online donations went above the RMB10 million mark for the first time.
In recent years, SIP has regarded charity as an important supplement to its efforts in guaranteeing and improving people’s livelihood. Over the past three years, SIP Charity Federation raised donations worth RMB250 million and gave out RMB210 million under about 400 programs to help people living on basic living allowances, the handicapped, children living in difficult circumstances and other needy groups.
